The Kanzemer Altenberg is one of the most prestigious vineyards on the Saar. The extremely steep slope with a gradient of 65 degrees requires a great deal of effort and exclusively manual labour. The reward is a wine that shimmers golden in the glass, with intense flavours of ripe stone fruit with slight exotic hints due to its south-south-east orientation. Due to the terroir of the slate soils, the enormous minerality and the still present acidity provide plenty of balance, freshness and saltiness on the finish. After 12 years, the wine shows a wonderful tertiary flavour.
