It is thanks to the deep, water-storing subsoil of Forst’s top Ungeheuer site that top quality wines can be produced there even in years characterised by climate change.The Bürklin-Wolf vineyard also has a higher proportion of organic material in the mottled sandstone weathering layer due to its biodynamic cultivation. Both ensure an excellent water balance and less drought stress. The estate’s 2022 Ungeheuer G.C. shows rich fruit tones of stone fruit and citrus fruit, is dense, intense and full of vibrant tension on the palate and closes with a furiously intense, never-ending finish. Stephan Reinhard awarded it 97 points in the Wine Advocate, James Suckling 99 points.
