Masseto mastermind Axel Heinz wrote in 2019 that 2015 was a picture-perfect ripening year. A prolonged dry phase was ended in good time by sufficient rain and cooler, ideal harvest temperatures. The character of the resulting 2015 is very classic and perfectly balanced. On the one hand, it is characterised by maturity, complexity and intense aromas; on the other, it is very fresh and elegant with soft, round tannins. Some oak supports the sensually dense aroma, a cascade of red and black fruit, spicy and balsamic notes, complemented by the Masseto trademark – the subtle cocoa note. A long finish forms the finale to a truly great wine that has been awarded almost 100 points by critics.
