More information about Father-in-law’s pride In the German vernacular, parents-in-law have an extremely bad reputation: they constantly come to visit unannounced, stay longer than you would like and give unsolicited advice non-stop. Mothers-in-law are old, drooling witches and it is impossible to live up to your father-in-law’s high standards. Fortunately, the situation in the Hertl household is quite different. Fate has been kind to me and given me parents-in-law who don’t fit the stereotype at all. Our relationship is so good that I have now even decided to welcome my father-in-law Alfred into the Hertl family with his own beer.The beery tribute to Alfred is called Father-in-law’s Pride and is a palatable smoked beer in golden amber. Smoked beer has a long tradition in Franconia and is characterized by its strong, full-bodied smoky aroma. My interpretation of this specialty beer is a real treat for the palate and does credit to my father-in-law Alfred.
