More information about Winter beer While in summer we like to drink feather-light sour beers and brews with a fruity variety and lean body, in winter it can be a little more opulent. Icy cold, gray slush, uncomfortable continuous rain and the stress of the Advent season tug at our nerves and we long for relaxing hours on the sofa. With candlelight, a cookie or two and the right (hot) drink, we take a deep breath and gather strength for the approaching festive season. Mulled wine, grog, cocoa, tea and hot chocolate are fabulous, but nothing warms the body and soul like a spicy winter beer. The Bonn-based brewery Ale-Mania brings out such a winter beer every year and has once again outdone itself in 2023: Their creation this year is brewed with a whole range of fortifying raw materials and cuts an extremely fine figure in the glass with its opaque rusty red color and creamy, buttery yellow head. This wintry delicacy contains six different types of malt, which not only provide the great color, but also a heavenly roasted aroma, soft caramel notes and a crisp texture. A spicy kick is provided by the Perle, Mittelfrüh and Spalter hop varieties, all of which come from German growing regions. The warming 6.2% rounds off the complex, drinkable brew, giving it the necessary oomph.
