Beschreibung
A mix of basalt, red sandstone, clay and limestone rubble characterize the geology of one of the best and most famous Riesling vineyards in the Palatinate, which bears its memorable name for good reason. Wines from the Ungeheuer are almost always characterized by a special, sometimes almost disturbing opulence and density. The vines on the Bürklin-Wolf plots are almost 40 years old. The 2019 vintage reveals itself on the palate with dense, almost baroque-like fruit and a deep mineral salinity. Now at the beginning of its drinking maturity, but with potential for well over another decade. 95-97 points from STEPHAN REINHARDT in WINE ADVOCATE.
