The Kilbeggan Distilling Company is an Irish company founded in 1757 with the launch of the Kilbeggan distillery, one of the two distilleries now part of the company.Opened in 1757, located in central Ireland, in the village of the same name, the distillery boasts the title of the oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland. The second is Cooley, founded by John Teeling in 1987. Located in County Louth, Ireland, the distillery produces both grain and malt whiskey. It also conducts blending, which results in blended whiskey. The company belongs to the Beam Suntory concern, which it joined in April 2014 with the acquisition of Beam Inc. by Suntory Holdings. The primary brands of whiskey produced by Kilbeggan Distilling Company are Kilbeggan, Connemara, Tyrconnel and 2 Gingers. Connemara is a peat Irish whiskey produced in the Cooley distillery, belonging to the Kilbeggan Distilling Company. Connemara Distillers Edition is a whiskey first introduced to the market in 2010. It is a triple-distilled Irish whiskey, combined with a blend of whiskey from sherry and bourbon casks.Aroma: Distinctly peaty, with accents of almonds, forest undergrowth and fruits, mainly pears and apples. A touch of vanilla.Taste: Very mild, delicate, slightly oily. Accents of honey, almonds, peat – both in the form of smoke and delicate earthy notes.Finish: Medium long, dry, with notes of peat smoke.
